Socially Engaged Art and Digital Practice Final Proposal : Connecting Communities

A long term dream of mine is to produce/curate an installation happening simultaneously in two different parts of the world.  After last class and the Team Lab lecture I was really inspired to find a meaningful way to connect cities using Socially Engaged Art I want to build a foundation that will help me execute this idea.

One of the subjects that came up very often in this class  is the use of materials and the power imbalance.

While thinking of ways to create green energy I thought what if there was an installation between 2 cities, powered by Play. Using the Sun and motion to power the energy needed to support the electricity needed.

While a pedaling bike in NY helps power the livestream camera to see the other side 

One of the things that I think could help me with the grant process is presenting the social impact of art in marginalized communities.

How do physical presence function in a networked world?  The physical presence is often overseen when thinking of the networked world we live in. Flavors, smells, physical touch are all part of our daily lives in a metropolitan city. Community engagement is what helps social networks thrive. During Covid some online communities flourished . What is the role of bias in creating technological tools? I think using technological tools is one of the easiest ways to access a larger demographic therefore it should be created by All TYPES of people. For the past 20 years we have become more and more dependent on the information we consumed and exchange in a tech environment. Bias is real and it wasn't until less than a decade ago that the conversation about bias and the impact on people life's started to become more of a central topic. Now more than ever we need to give tools to people that otherwise don't have a voice in development of said technologies. Also understanding that Bias cannot disappear from one day to another, it a long process and we need to keep the conversation and education going.
