Light & Interactivity: Week 5 Observation Assignment 24 hours

 Observation Assignment: 24-hour time-lapse video. Capture another interior space that’s part of your everyday routine in 10-second intervals over 24 hours

Recording started at 2:49pm, February 28th, 2022




The first video was recorded from 2:49pm until 8:49pm.

The sky was clear and the camera is facing North West , the light is coming through from the West. The long shadows change directions in a similar way to clock hands until it slowly fades away.

Eventually it get too dark and the light used is a long LED floor lamp that faces the wall. The light this lamp generates has a pale yellow hue. The plant and the white pot capture the light.


Second video was recorded from 8:49pm 02/28 until 12pm 03/01.



The floor lamp continue to be the main source of light. There are some blue hues that are visible on this timelapse. On the right side of the frame there is a screen that is receiving light from an epson projector. The screen is fairly large around 6ft x 4ft. Around 11pm all lights are off.

Sunrise was at 6:28am and the morning light is slightly, the sky is overcast so the light is not hitting harshly.

What is the role of bias in creating technological tools? I think using technological tools is one of the easiest ways to access a larger demographic therefore it should be created by All TYPES of people. For the past 20 years we have become more and more dependent on the information we consumed and exchange in a tech environment. Bias is real and it wasn't until less than a decade ago that the conversation about bias and the impact on people life's started to become more of a central topic. Now more than ever we need to give tools to people that otherwise don't have a voice in development of said technologies. Also understanding that Bias cannot disappear from one day to another, it a long process and we need to keep the conversation and education going.
