P.Comp Lab: Serial Input to P5.js

The instructions were clear but I almost missed a sub link. I did the Lab with the P.Comp workshop and that gave me a lot of confidence, knowing that someone could help me troubleshoot on site and go over questions was incredible valuable (Thank you Cy!)

During class the notes to remind were 1) we need to use Google Chrome 2) P5.Serial control and Arduino cannot work simultaneously, while I was working I learn that although both can be open at the same time.  Arduino cannot be running any actions such a serial Monitor.

The first issue upon downloading P5.serial monitor was that  Chrome and mac were not allowing me to open the application on my computer because it came from Github. I had to change the Security and Privacy Settings on my computer in order to have the program running.

After that P5.serial control run  fairly smoothly. Another thing to note is that every time P5.serial is reopened it needs to be reminded of the port.

When it's was time to start working with my board I prefer to use the Arduino Uno because it's easier to connect and I have zero issues with it unlike the Arduino Nano.

First Thing I did was test the serial monitor to make sure my Arduino was properly connected.

Most of the issue had to do with troubleshooting the code.

I'm so happy I did the P.Comp workshop, I think having someone look at my code was something that really help with the process
